Global Lounge opened on April 1, 2008!
Travelers from across the globe, as well as non-Japanese residents of Hiroshima, often come to Outsider. It is quite unique - a language school which has non-Japanese visitors other than its language teachers. Why? It is because Outsider sells used English books.

Actually, Outsider was once a publisher which published informational magazines for international residents in Hiroshima. We had a lot of opportunities to interact with non-Japanese residents, and thus Outsider became a key center to exchange information. Meanwhile, we started a book-recycling service, receiving used books and selling them at a low price. Now we are one of the biggest used English book shops in Western Japan with about 3000 books.
In addition, our shop is now included in “The Lonely Planet,” one of the world’s leading guide books.
Up until now we have only been selling used books. However, requests such as “Can I use the Internet?”, ”Can I have some coffee?”,“Do you have beer or cocktails?” were numerous, and we decided to re-open as “Global Lounge,” an Internet cafe and bar.
We hope this lounge becomes a place of communication and relaxation for non-Japanese who love Japan and for Japanese who are interested in foreign countries.
